Week 27!


Good Morning!

With two weeks left until spring break, that you for encouraging and supporting your child to continue their great habits! Their hard work is showing as each child is growing in their reading and math. It is a delight to watch them blossom! We will begin Sam the Minuteman next week. Please ensure that your child brings their copy to school. Thank you!

Homework

Nightly: Read for 15 min. using the book bags and bubblegum math practice for 2 minutes, practice poem (The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson)

Phonograms to practice nightly: aw, au, ay, ai, ea, ow, wh, ir, ar, or

Monday: never, found, side, kind, life, here, car and wkbk. pg. 74-75

Tuesday: word, every, under, most, said, says, say and wkbk. pg. 76-77

Wednesday: made, work, our, more, when, print and wkbk. pg. 78-79

Thursday: Review all words and Test B 

Friday: Read for 15 minutes

Academics 

Idiom: An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away

Poetry: The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson     (Recitations begin this Thursday, 2/27)

Spalding: We will learn 20 new words this week. On Thursday, we will review all 20 words. On Friday, we will have a test on all 20 words and 10 phonograms.

Wednesday: made, work, our, more, when, print

Grammar/Writing: This week we will read and write about passages from How To Eat Fried Worms. We will review nouns, verbs, and adjectives. We will complete our poetry recitations on Thursday & Friday. 

Literature: We will enjoy one last Anansi story on Monday and then will begin reading a historical fiction piece entitled Sam the Minuteman. Please ensure your child brings their copy to school.

Math: We will continue to explore repeated addition and transition into multiplication.

History: Students will hear about the founding of Jamestown, John Smith, Pocahontas, and slavery in the colonies. 


Science: We will wrap up our study of the human body and start looking at the geographical features of the earth's surface and its layers as we begin our unit on Earth Science this week.
