Greetings 1A Families,
We had a wonderful day on Friday celebrating friendship! We enjoyed time with 4A, made friendship cards, participated in an assembly along with other great hearted activities! A great time was had by all. Thank you to all the parents who helped bring in supplies to help make the day a success.
Also, a BIG thank you to all of the parents who supplied our classroom with more tissues, baby wipes, glue, and other materials last week. I am SO thankful for you!

Idiom: An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away
Poetry: The Swing by Robert Louis Stevenson
Spalding: We will learn 20 new words this week. On Thursday, we will review all 20 words. On Friday, we will have a test on all 20 words and 10 phonograms.
Phonograms to practice nightly: er, ea, ay, sh, ci, ti, ai high, ch, ee
Monday: help, hard, race, cover, fire, wire, tire
Tuesday: age, gold, read, read, red, fine, cannot
Wednesday: May, may, line, left, ship, train
Grammar/Writing: This week we will read and write about passages from The Velveteen Rabbit. We will wrap up our unit on adjectives and take an assessment on Friday.
Literature: This week we will enjoy the west African folktales of Anasi the spider!
Math: We will continue to explore strategies and practice two-digit addition and subtraction including renaming (borrowing from the tens). We will have a test on Thursday and prepare for multiplication on Friday will repeated addition.
History: We begin our unit on early American explorers!
Science: Students will continue learning more about the human body and its systems.
